Ashford

There is not a great deal difference between Ashford and many other towns in the UK.Like others we have our Malls with household name stores.Debenhams,M&S,Bhs to name a few and on the other side of the Ashford-Hastings rail line from our flat in Newtown there is the McArthur Glen outlet,a large horse collar shaped designer village noticable from miles away with its white waved designed roof.

Ashford’s main claim to fame is its accessibility to the rest of the country and for that matter Europe also.It stands at the centre of a five rail junction which makes it the ideal base for visitors.15 minutes from Canterbury and a similar time to Folkestone.20 mins to Maidstone and 35 mins to Hastings.London is less than 40 mins on the high speed service and there is also services to Paris and Brussels on the Eurostar. It is mentioned as a market town but you wouldn’t notice that much since they moved the cattle market from the middle of the town to the Orbital park on the edge.

On the opposite side of town from the mainly industrial Orbital park is the Eureka park at junction 9 of the M20 which is more entertainment orientated with a cinema, eating establishments, garden centre and hotels.

The Ashford area is a recent home to the Kilkies. There are 3 Kilkie households in the area.
