We live in Gravesend, Kent with our son Peter. We met at Cambridge University, moved first to London then to Gravesend in 1986. We’ve lived here for 30 years. London was too expensive, too busy and Sarah’s family all hail from Gravesend.

We are both retired. Sarah’s last job was managing Environmental Health and Elections in our local council Gravesham. Martin started as a science teacher, moved to IT teaching, left to become an inspector for schools in London then moved to managing IT education in Greenwich council.

Sarah now spends her days reading, walking and delivering library books. Martin has gone back to teaching as a home tutor for youngsters doing GCSE and A level maths and science.

We love holidays. We are on our 60th cruise this year with more booked for next year … and the year after. Summer is usually the Med and Spring is Caribbean.

Our eldest, Jonny sadly passed away in 2022 and is still badly missed. He had several passions – tatoos, fitness and cars. His last car (VW golf) is still in the family and regularly achieves 500hp. His younger brother Peter was very keen on graphics design but couldnt get a job as apparently you need a way in via someone who knows someone. He loves driving, his own company and listening to LBC. Currently delivers groceries for ASDA (known internally as another shit day again) and loves the job – terrible management but peace and independence once he is out on the road. Peter loves Japan and anything Japanese. He has visited twice and plans more trips next year.

We live in a semi in Northridge Road, at the southeast end of Gravesend in Singlewell, away from the town centre and very near countryside and walks. Its a corner plot and we have a nice extension and quite a big garden. The trees at the back are so tall and wide that we cannot see any neighbours or their houses.

We have no animal pets except a few squirrels, wild birds and one or two frogs. Our newist family member is Kryten, a robot lawnmower who efficiently keeps or back garden neat and tidy. He has added eyes and we are looking for a suitable machine gun for the squirrels.
